Here are some simple tips:

A plant in a 6 inch pot should be watered once a week. The rule of thumb is that for every inch the pot is in diameter, you should water that many days apart. In winter you might find that you can water a little less frequently. Water thoroughly and let drain in the sink so that they don't sit in water. You won't need to mist them.

When they are blooming keep them in a room that is 60 degrees or warmer.

It is not necessary to feed Phalaenopsis Orchids heavily. Use a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10 once a month.

Use a stake to hold them up.

Plant Phalaenopsis Orchids in clay pots in a light potting medium such as bark, perlite, or moss.

When it is time to repot:

Remove the orchid from the old pot

Inspect for any dead, dry, or diseased roots and remove them if found.

Put some Styrofoam peanuts in the bottom of the new pot, insert the Phalaenopsis in the center and tuck either peanuts or moss around it to secure it.

Restake the flowers.
